Generally, stomach and back sleepers needs a firmer mattress to keep the spine flat, while side sleepers should look for a soft feel that contours to the hips and legs.

Then, consider your other sleep needs. If you have night sweats, look for a cooling mattress. If you have back pain, look for a mattress with zoned support and a contouring feel.
