Rather than introducing an entirely new form factor like past Nintendo devices, the Switch 2 seems like a direct sibling to its predecessor. It maintains the same form factor and offers backward compatibility for Switch games while addressing many players’ complaints about the older model. For some, this is a real negative, while others have nothing but praise for the new release.
Larger with a more vibrant display, the Switch 2 feels better in hand and is easier on the eyes. Rather than straining to parse small chat bubbles, the new screen is more readable for players, even without an OLED display, which provides higher contrast. It features a new 120Hz refresh rate, along with a 4K output, for Ultra HD gaming on 4K TVs. As a Switch 2 owner, I can attest to the beautiful graphics now capable on TVs when the console is docked.
