The Dyson V8, one of the best affordable vacuums, is TK% off for Prime Day.

Dyson is the longtime “it girl” of vacuum brands, and for good reason. Over several years of testing, we’ve found the best Dyson vacuums have impressive power, ease of use, and functionality. The primary deterrent is that these machines are very expensive. But Amazon Big Deal Days is a rare opportunity to save $150 on a new Dyson V8 vacuum cleaner. This discount doesn’t come around often, and it’s one of our favorite Prime Day Dyson deals.

I’m especially impressed with the 33% discount on the Dyson V8, which brings the price down to $300. It’s Dyson’s most affordable model, but it doesn’t skimp on suction. The lightweight cordless vacuum features an easy-to-use design and includes useful attachments for tackling pet hair.

Why we love the Dyson V8

The Dyson V8 struggled with larger pieces of debris like rice and cereal, pushing them forward, but was eventually able to pick them up.

It’s lightweight and easily portable. Weighing a mere 5.5 pounds, the Dyson V8 is noticeably light, even for a cordless vacuum. Gone are the days of lugging around a heavy vacuum cleaner, stopping at every room to plug it back in. The battery lasts for up to 40 minutes, and our tester appreciated that the combination of cordless function and light weight meant the vacuum was easy to move around the house, including up stairs and into the car.

It’s easy to use. Switching power settings is as simple as toggling a switch, and the vacuum uses a trigger style button to stay powered. The vacuum easily converts to a handheld for cleaning upholstery, getting into crevices, or cleaning high up. Once the dustbin is full, you simply pull a lever to drop the contents into the trash. This is intuitive and easy to use — and it keeps your hands away from the contents of the bin. When the vacuum isn’t in use, its slim profile means it’s doesn’t take up much space to store. It also comes with a wall dock to hang on your wall, which comes in clutch if you’re in a small living space.

It cleans well on carpets and rugs. The Dyson V8 powered through a slew of messes on carpet and rugs, including coffee grounds and hair, with ease. It struggled with picking up large debris on hard floors, but this is typically a pain point for most vacuums. If you have a carpeted space, the Dyson V8 should get the job done with no problem. Overall, it has strong suction that can pull up even the most embedded pet hair and dust bunnies.
